I ride bikes because they make sense to me.
When things feel busy or complicated, a bike simplifies everything. There’s a road, a direction, and the steady work of moving forward. That’s enough. Cycling has always been my way of slowing life down without stopping it entirely.
I don’t ride to escape — I ride to settle.

Riding With Purpose (But No Rush)
I’m a methodical rider by nature.
I like planned routes, well-chosen roads, and rides that unfold exactly as expected — until they don’t. I enjoy pacing myself, settling into a rhythm, and letting the miles accumulate quietly. Long, steady rides suit me better than short, explosive efforts.
There’s something deeply satisfying about finishing a ride knowing you judged it just right — the pace, the distance, the effort — and still had something left at the end.
Favourite Roads in Europe
I’m drawn to roads that feel engineered for riding — not dramatic, just right.
Some of my favourite places to ride include:
- The Netherlands, especially long, open rural roads where rhythm matters more than gradients
- Belgium, away from the famous cobbles, on smooth farm roads and quiet connectors
- Southern Germany, where rolling terrain and immaculate surfaces reward consistency
- Eastern France, where roads flow naturally through countryside without demanding attention
I like roads that let you focus inward — where the surface is predictable and the landscape slowly changes around you.
My Favourite Bike
My favourite bike is a practical, well-balanced road bike — nothing extreme, nothing flashy.
It’s built around stability, predictable handling, and components that just work. I value reliability over novelty, and I prefer a setup that feels the same on hour one as it does on hour five.
I don’t think about my bike much while riding — and that’s exactly how I like it.
Why I Ride — and Why Bike & Road Resonates
Cycling, for me, is about clarity.
Bike & Road reflects the kind of cycling I believe in: thoughtful, grounded, and realistic. Not everything needs to be faster or lighter. Sometimes it just needs to be better suited to how you actually ride.
I enjoy sharing perspectives that help riders make calmer, smarter choices — about bikes, gear, and how they spend their time on the road.
A Few Cycling Principles I Live By
- Smooth beats fast more often than not
- Consistency matters more than intensity
- Reliability is underrated
- A good route is worth planning
- Finishing strong is better than starting fast
If you like riding with intention — and letting the road do the rest — you’ll probably understand why I ride.
Favourite ride length: Long enough to require planning
Favourite terrain: Open, rolling roads with clear sightlines
Favourite cycling moment: The steady middle of a ride, when everything feels controlled
