I didn’t come to cycling through racing or numbers — I came to it through freedom.
My first long ride wasn’t fast, impressive, or particularly planned. It was just the first time I realised how far a bike could take me in a single day — and how good it felt to move through places slowly enough to notice them. That feeling stuck, and it’s what keeps me riding.
Cycling, for me, is about connection: to the road, to the landscape, and to the quiet rhythm that only shows up once you’ve been pedalling for a while.

Riding for Rhythm, Not Rush
I’m not interested in chasing speed for its own sake.
I love steady efforts, long stretches of uninterrupted road, and rides that have a natural flow to them. I’m happiest when the ride has a beginning, a middle, and an unhurried end — ideally with good coffee somewhere along the way.
Some days that means riding solo with no real plan. Other days it means riding with friends, talking through the miles, letting the pace take care of itself.
Cycling fits into my life not as training, but as a way to reset.
Favourite Roads in Europe
Europe has a way of rewarding patient riders.
Some of my favourite places to ride include:
- The Portuguese coast, where the roads roll gently and the air always smells like the sea
- Northern Italy, especially the quieter roads just outside the famous climbs
- The Catalan countryside, where the terrain is varied but never feels rushed
- The Lake District-style roads of southern France, winding, green, and unexpectedly peaceful
I’m drawn to roads that feel lived-in — the kind that connect villages, not landmarks.
My Favourite Bike
My favourite bike is a road bike that prioritises comfort, balance, and versatility.
It’s set up with wider tyres, sensible gearing, and a position that feels good all day — not just for the first hour. I want a bike that feels stable on descents, forgiving on rough roads, and confident when the ride turns longer than expected.
I don’t believe in “perfect bikes,” only bikes that suit how you actually ride.
Why I Ride — and Why Bike & Road Matters
I ride because cycling gives me space.
Space to think, to notice, to breathe, and to move through places at a human pace. Bike & Road speaks to that kind of riding — thoughtful, comfortable, and grounded in real experiences rather than hype.
I care about sharing honest perspectives, encouraging riders to trust how cycling feels to them, and reminding people that there’s no single right way to ride a bike.
A Few Things I Believe About Cycling
- Riding slower often means riding farther
- Comfort makes you more confident
- Good rides don’t need to be complicated
- The best routes aren’t always the obvious ones
- Cycling should fit your life, not take it over
If you ride to feel connected — to the road, the place, or yourself — then you’ll feel at home here.
Favourite ride length: A full morning with no clock-watching
Favourite terrain: Rolling roads with changing light
Favourite cycling moment: That quiet stretch after the café stop, when the ride settles back in
